The Mission

The Abortion Mobilization Project (AMP) is a centralized source of volunteer opportunities for people who want to get involved with abortion activism. We connect potential volunteers with ways that they can get involved that serve both the movement and the individual. We also provide education about the movement, its needs, history, and key players.

The Problem We’re Trying to Solve

In the political climate we currently live in, people want to get engaged but don’t know where to start. Americans are overwhelmingly in support of abortion access and in moments of political crisis, people pour into the inboxes of organizations asking how they can help. Those organizations are all managing their own crises - whether its clients seeking care or lawyers interpreting policy - and do not have the time or energy to connect people to the right opportunities.

AMP aims to take that labor off of abortion access workers by creating a simple site they can share that will connect potential volunteers to the organizations where they can best be utilized.

Who This Helps

We are working to create a more engaged populace by connecting energized volunteers to places where they can make demonstrable difference. In an increasingly bifrucated and censored political environment, offering tangible ways for people to get engaged serves everyone.

Further, as funding opportunities become more and more limited, creating a robust volunteer program can be key to expanding a donor base for organizations.

Who is Organizing This Project

AMP was created by four abortion access movement leaders including team members from Shout Your Abortion, Plan C Pills, ineedana.com and Apiary for Practical Support. Marisa Falcon, former Executive Director of Apiary, is now the project manager, and its co-creators serve as the Advisory Committee.

The Ask

We are raising $135,000 during the initial pilot phase, which is being spent building out the project’s infrastructure and assessing abortion access organization’s interest in and concerns about the project. These funds will be used for:

• Project management services

• Operations expenses such as website and platform costs

• Strategic planning
