Abortion + ICE
ICE is an existential threat to every single person on US soil today. There is no kind of work that does not intersect with ICE and the militarization of all US police forces. The entire nation is currently looking at Minneapolis and seeing the brutality our government is capable of enacting on its residents. The mere existence of ICE is a threat to bodily autonomy. It is impossible to not talk about ICE.
At this particular moment (January 26, 2026) ICE is not posing a specific threat to abortion seekers or clinics, but we cannot move under the assumption that that will continue. We are already seeing the chilling effect of ICE-occupied spaces on health, including reproductive care. ICE has targeted health care centers as a means of identifying undocumented residents at the same time that abortion access is increasingly criminalized.
ICE has the largest law enforcement budget in the nation. We also know that any work critical of the US government or against the goals of the president and Project 2025 is being deemed as “terrorist activities.”
We can only assume, then, that one day soon, ICE will be directed at abortion workers, patients, providers, and supporters. Even if that day does not come, it is in all of our best interests to be prepared.
So how do you defend abortion right now and in the future? Fight ICE. Want to fight ICE? Defend abortion. A win against ICE is a win for reproductive freedom.
Ways to push back against ICE right now
Disrupt ICE when you find them.
Boycott companies collaborating with ICE
Print and distribute Whistle Zines Kits
Know Your Rights when it comes to immigration enforcement.
Understand how your data is being used and set up systems to protect yourself
Lean into community - meet your neighbors, start a hyperlocal group chat with them (in Signal), learn what people need, and what they and you can offer.
Call your reps and say “absolutely not.” (I know, I know. But it really does matter. Plus yelling at someone in power will make you feel better.)

Abortion-specific ways to fight ICE
Support your clinic. Ensure abortion clinics have the infrastructure they need to protect themselves when ICE arrives.
Support telemedicine services that allow abortion pills to be delivered without leaving the house.
Support practical support organizations helping people travel for their care.
Volunteer your services to abortion access organizations and workers to give them the time and space to protect their clients under attack.
Support the Repro Legal Defense Fund which provides bail funds and other legal fees to people who have been criminalized in relation to their pregnancy, including around immigration enforcement.
And remember:
There are more of us than there are of them. Abolish ICE. Defund the police.
Solidarity forever.
